Students in the Bolsa Famíla Program have high attendance and good grades
To earn the right to the Bolsa Família program, children between the ages of 6 and 17 years must be attending school with an attendance record of 85% per month. This program has been yielding excellent returns.

At the primary school level performance sor students in the Bolsa Família program is similar to that of children that are not in the program. The performance of high school students in the program is higher that that of students is above the national average. Truancy is lower in both elementary and secondary education levels.
Released from the obligation to work to help their families, these children have opportunities that their parents and grandparents did not have. And they opt for more education.
Many of these students attend the local university, realizing the dream of former President Lula: To see the children of working class laborers become engineers.
